GALVESTON, Texas — A 16-year-old has been taken into custody after allegedly shooting and killing her mother on Thursday evening, according to Galveston police.
Mother Allegedly Killed by Her Daughter
Police responded to a call at the 5100 block of Avenue Q around 7:45 p.m., where they found a woman who had been shot multiple times in her arm and stomach. The victim was transported to UTMB Health’s John Sealy Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the suspect as the victim’s 16-year-old daughter. Officials reported that the teen had initially left the scene but later returned to the home. Upon her return, Galveston police took her into custody.
The teen was placed in the Galveston County Juvenile Detention Center in Texas City.

Galveston law enforcement have not yet stated whether the teen is currently facing charges in connection with the shooting.
