A peculiar, vivid orange patch often emerges on your cherished towel, persisting despite repeated washing. These blemishes differ from ordinary stains. Benzoyl peroxide, a common component in acne treatments, frequently causes this issue. Rather than adding color, it strips the fabric’s dye, creating permanent orange or yellow splotches wherever it makes contact.
Water rich in iron can also contribute to the problem. In homes with well water or aging pipes, rust-like marks may appear on towels after multiple washes. Certain hair products, self-tanning lotions, and shampoos infused with pigments can transfer hues to fabrics, while some cleaning sprays containing bleach or peroxide may lead to similar discoloration without immediate notice.
