Nationwide — Tamilore Odunsi, a 23-year-old British nursing student who had moved to Houston, Texas to pursue her degree, was tragically stabbed to death just days before she was set to graduate. Known online for her uplifting TikTok videos and study advice, Odunsi had been counting down the days to her commencement ceremony. Her final post expressed excitement for the future, unaware of the tragedy that would soon unfold.People reports that Houston police responded to a welfare check at an apartment complex in southeast Houston. Officers arrived around 3:50 p.m. after a friend of Odunsi’s father called authorities, concerned that the family had not heard from her. After knocking with no response, officers noticed blood on the back patio and made entry into the apartment. Inside, they found Odunsi dead on the kitchen floor from multiple stab wounds.
A man, later identified by the Daily Mail as Odunsi’s roommate, was also found in the bedroom suffering from at least one stab wound. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police have not released his identity, and no suspects have been publicly named. The investigation remains ongoing, with officials still working to determine what led to the violent attack.
Odunsi, known as @tamidollars on TikTok, had amassed over 30,000 followers by sharing relatable content about her life as an international student. Her posts often included study tips, personal reflections, and her experiences as a British woman navigating nursing school in the U.S. Her last video, posted on April 21, was full of optimism as she celebrated turning 23 and her upcoming graduation.
A GoFundMe page has since been launched to help cover funeral costs and the expenses of transporting Odunsi’s body back to her family in the United Kingdom. The fundraiser describes her as “a beautiful soul, full of light, ambition, and kindness,” and notes that she came to the U.S. to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She was particularly passionate about working with children and hoped to dedicate her career to making a difference in young lives.
The campaign also honors her joyful spirit outside of her academic goals, highlighting her love of content creation and her ability to brighten the lives of those around her. What was meant to be a season of celebration has instead turned into a moment of profound loss, as her loved ones grieve a life taken far too soon.
